My Story
Like many of my clients, I suffered through years of unexplained symptoms and doctor’s visits trying to identify the cause, rarely receiving answers. As a student of nutrition, I assumed my problem was food-related, and tried elimination and autoimmune diets, with little to no relief. At some point, I realized that I was holding on to a belief that I was either healthy or dying, that there was no in between.
Regardless of the cause and no matter what my “diagnosis” was, the only thing in my realm of control was how I cared for myself, and that included more than my food and exercise. What was I allowing in my life that did not serve me? Where was I saying yes when I needed to say no?
The truth is, health is not static. Weight is not static. Our bodies are constantly changing and to cling to a belief that they should stay or look the same is detrimental…to all of us. Measures like weight are fleeting and can lead to unhealthy relationships with food, or feeling weighted down despite losing weight.
My experience and academic training have led to my “flow” approach with clients. The metrics I use for success are tailored to the individual; there is no one-size-fits-all measure of health. The ultimate goal of my work is that you are not suffering unnecessarily, that your lifestyle, including food and exercise, allow for your optimal wellness.
Just flow with it,
Kelby
